From day one, Golden Buoy was never just about selling tees. It was about proving you can build an ethical, sustainable surf brand without cutting corners. For us, that’s the whole point. We’re not just jumping on a trend; these values are the compass that guides every decision we make.
We’re passionate about leaving things better than we find them, which is why we’re committed to sustainable practices in everything we do, from our made-to-order model that eliminates waste to our plastic-free packaging.
But we’re not perfect. The journey to becoming a truly eco-friendly clothing company is a long one, and we believe in being totally transparent about it. We're constantly learning and always on the lookout for new ways to reduce our impact and improve how we operate. It's an ongoing mission, and we're stoked you're part of it.
It’s not just about how our gear looks; it’s about how it’s made. We’re committed to building a truly ethical surfwear brand, which means we care deeply about the people who craft our clothing.
That's why our tees are made in production lines that are certified by the Fair Wear Foundation. In simple terms, this means that every garment is created in a safe environment by talented people who are paid a fair wage for their work. No exceptions. It’s about replacing exploitation with respect.
The material itself is just as important. We use only 100% organic cotton that’s incredibly soft and grown without harmful chemicals, making it kinder to your skin and the soil. On top of that, our entire line is PETA-approved vegan.
It's simple, really. We make sustainable, ethically-produced clothing that you can feel genuinely good about pulling on.
We’re passionate about keeping our oceans clean, and that mission starts with how we ship your gear. Forget plastic parcels; every Golden Buoy order is sent out using eco-friendly packaging that’s as kind to the planet as possible.
Your order will land on your doorstep in a sturdy, UK-made paper mailer. When you’re done with it, you can just toss it in with your household recycling.
Our bags are tough, so if something’s not quite right and you need to make a return, you can easily reuse the same packaging to send it back. We’ll handle the recycling from our end. It’s a simple, zero-waste loop.
The only other thing you’ll find in your parcel is a collectible coaster – so you can have a cold one on us. And yes, that’s fully recyclable too.
It’s our commitment to providing truly sustainable surfwear. No plastic, no fuss, just good gear in good packaging.
Ever get a new tee and immediately have to chop off a load of useless labels before you can even wear it? We’ve never understood that either. It’s pure waste.
That’s why we’ve ditched them. Our clothing is tagless, with all the important info printed directly on the inside of the garment. It’s a zero-waste approach that’s more comfortable for you and way better for the planet.
We also steer clear of those pointless individual plastic sleeves. Our gear is never wrapped in single-use plastic; it’s folded straight into its recyclable paper mailer, ready to be pulled on the moment it arrives.
It’s just another part of our mission to deliver sustainable surfwear with nothing to throw away and nothing to get in the way of your next adventure.
While our roots are in the surf, our heart is in all things water. As a former watersports instructor, our founder lived and breathed everything from sailing and windsurfing to kitesurfing, wakeboarding, and the new thrill of wingfoiling. If it happens on the water, we’re there.
We know the future of these sports rests with the next generation of chargers – the kids pushing the limits and keeping the stoke alive. That’s why a huge part of our mission is dedicated to youth athlete sponsorship.
For us, it’s about more than just free gear. We're proud to be a UK watersports sponsor that gets properly stuck in, helping to cover costs for training, travel, and competitions. We’ve been honoured to back a number of rising stars over the years, watching them hit podiums across the globe.
We’re always on the lookout for the next wave of talent to join the Golden Buoy family. If you’re a passionate young athlete chasing a dream and think you’d be a good fit for a sustainable UK sports brand, we want to hear from you.
